Brummys welcome Benedict

The much publicised visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Birmingham is culture clash of the year.

A German Catholic from Italy visiting one of Britain's most diverse ethnic and Asian communities.

Impressively Mr XVI is fluent in four languages, including English - but not Brummy.

Along with tens of security guards, he went clothes shopping in the West Midlands this afternoon visiting Birmingham's high street fashion outlets.

The trip went smoothly - the only problem was when he went in a mens' suit shop and asked for a kipper tie.

The shop attendant turned around and replied with 'no problem, but how many sugars your holiness?'

...The old ones are the best.
